Golf Cart Basics

A golf cart is a small vehicle originally designed to carry two golfers and their clubs. In the beginning, golf carts were electrically powered, but over time, gas-powered variants began to show themselves in the market. Electric powered golf carts don’t pollute and are quiet and safe for pedestrians due to their low speed.

Golf carts do come in a wide range of formats but are generally for the purpose of carrying a small number of passengers, short distances. Their speed is less than 15mph. Their typical size is four feet wide, eight feet long and six feet high. Their weight is between 900 and 1000 pounds and most are powered by a four stroke engine.

There is a model built for general transportation, which is called a neighborhood electric vehicle or NEV (Neighborhood Electric Vehicle). Some regulations come with NEV’s, such as the type of streets on which they are permitted and the top speed allowed.

Although they resemble a golf cart, some are made with all-weather, car-like bodies.
The price of golf carts can vary anywhere from $ 3000-$ 15000 per car, and several factors help to make this range so broad. It will depend on how many carts are being purchased. Whether just one for an individual, or many for a golf club. Golf carts also come with different options, such as, how many people it will carry, whether they have windshields and ball cleaners. You can get golf carts with upgraded or motor speed controllers, cooler trays and lift kits. A club may also offer storage and energy options to potential buyers as well.

There is a lot to take into consideration when looking at the purchase of a golf cart.
